New details have emerged on the new film from Joel and Ethan Coen, Hail, Caesar!, thanks to two men who work with the brothers almost as often as the brothers work with each other. Composer Carter Burwell and sound mixer Skip Lievsay reveal that the Hollywood-set film has quite a lot of musical comedy in it, though it isn’t a musical comedy per se. (more…)

Alibaba Pictures Group, the movie investment arm of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, is to pay US$134 million (RMB830 million) to buy Yueke Software. The company is one of China’s top cinema ticketing systems suppliers. (more…)

LONDON — Turner Broadcasting System has licensed season two of Russian animated series “ Masha and the Bear” to run on pre-school channel Cartoonito in the U.K.

Season one is being broadcast six times a day on the channel, including weekends, and it is one of its top three most popular shows. (more…)

The crew of the starship Enterprise always hopes to go where no one has gone before. For the third movie, that might be “Beyond.”

The third film in the recently rebooted Star Trek series now has a likely title. After Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, Star Trek 3 is likely to be called Star Trek Beyond. Read more about the Star Trek 3 title below.

TrekMovie.com is reporting the Star Trek 3 title news.

Justin Lin is directing the film which will feature the core cast of the past two films, along with Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella and others.

The report admits this might just be a title to put fans off the scent of the film, but “ Star Trek Beyond” was reportedly registered with the Motion Picture Association of America. So it seems likely, with a July 8, 2016 release date fast approaching, this could be the title. (more…)
